Kingdom Builder.

“For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.” –1Corinthians 3:9-10.

One thing I love about our Lord Jesus is that first, He loves me and forgives me of all my sins! Secondly, I love how He speaks to one person in His Body and will confirm that Word through another within His Body.

A “rebuilding of hearts” and “reconciliation” is happening within the Body of Christ. Jesus is so powerful and awesome! Still, He does not favor one over the other. God looks at you in the pew with the same love as He looks at your pastor. The roles you each serve are different. Your assignment may not match what other brothers and sisters have been given, but God no less loves you. 

I pray that you will know how much our Lord Jesus loves you.

And I pray you know this also: God will not stop loving you when you fall. Because His Love enables us to pick up the broken pieces of our hearts and say, “Lord help me! Fix this heart that I am laying before You.” The Apostle Paul writes: “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” –Romans 8:37-39.

If you are Christ’s, then you are a conqueror in Christ Jesus. You are a coheir to the Kingdom of God and a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

As ministers of His Word, we build on good ground—a sure foundation.

Building upon God’s Word assures us that as we build, so long as our works align with His Word, His Word will support our good works. “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:11.

Every building needs a strong foundation. Without it, the structure will fall. Our sure foundation is built upon our faith in Christ and our time spent worshiping Christ Jesus. We will never be able to support the things of God and the works He has assigned us without first knowing and obeying Him and keeping Him first in all things. “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” –1 Corinthians 4: 12-14.

Everything man builds starts as a vision and is brought into existence.

As God spoke His vision, plan, and purpose for creation, they became manifest. God said, “Let there be,” and everything came into being. God creates. It is just one of His many Characteristics. He has also placed this ability to create—to partner with His will and plan into His children.

If you belong to Jesus, you have been given faith to speak life into that circumstance or over a family member. You can speak life into something you thought was dead, such as a dream or goal, mending relationships, and new beginnings. Whatever it is you declare, it will be done if it is according to the will of God within Christ Jesus. He is God. You are not. “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. If you love me, keep my commands.” –John 14:13-15.

The Holy Spirit that lives in you, child of God, will tell you how to pray when you are unsure what to speak. Romans 8:26 tells us this: “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses, For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

When we lay the groundwork of worship and praise in Jesus Christ alone, we will see the vision of what God has for us come into focus.

Jesus is the Cornerstone the builders rejected. “Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture: “‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?” –Mark 12:10-11.

Yet, without a cornerstone, a structure will collapse. So, too, what we attempt to build without God.

The importance of a cornerstone is that it bears much of the weight of the building’s outer structure, and it connects and unites two of the walls. As a builder for God’s Kingdom, you need Jesus to be the Cornerstone of everything you build concerning life and ministry.

In other words, “Do not try to do what God must do first.” Put Jesus in the front of it. His name carries Authority. His Blood washes away our sins, and He sets the captive free!

Jesus teaches us about rock and sand, two very different types of foundations: It would be foolish on our part to dismiss God’s instructions for our lives.

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock; and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that that house; and it did not fail, for it was founded on the rock.” –Matthew 7:24-25.

As we read and declare the words of Jesus, we must also apply them to our daily lives. Jesus says in the Scripture, “Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, AND DOES THEM, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Proverbs 1:7 reminds us: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Now, fear of the Lord is not fear, as we understand it, being terrified or scared of something or someone; instead, fear of the Lord is a reverence for a deep and abiding love, respect, and awe of God.

“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand; and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell, And great was its fall.”

Jesus gave us the blueprint on how to walk out our faith, but if we choose not to adhere to the Word of God, the collapse, the storms of doubt and fear will rain on us and crush us just as they did the house built on sand. We who believe can and must rely on Truth: The Word of God is consistent and always will be. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, Who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” –Revelation 1:8.

As I close, dear friends, I pray the Holy Spirit speaks to anyone needing a firm foundation to stand on. Assuring you that to receive salvation, you need only confess and wholeheartedly repent your sins to the Lord Jesus, asking that He come into your heart.” for, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.” –Romans 10:9-10.

Walk it Out On The Sea Of Doubt. Part 2.

As the title implies, doubt can be like a raging sea.

Thoughts can suddenly blow through our minds; waves of fear can crash and swell within them. And like all storms, our thoughts can be dark and foreboding, but God! Oh, hallelujah! Only God can calm those thoughts, those sudden, stormy waves, and winds. Only God can make the sea of our minds like glass, perfectly still. With just a Word from His mouth: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” – John 14:27

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen”. -Ephesians 3:20-21. 

That, my dear friends, what our God can do and does, it’s straight from the Word.

No man can make up the workings of God. The Spirit testifies in each of us that God is who He says He is. Jesus came to give life and make it more abundant. Jesus came to give us peace, His peace. We need to cling to and pray for His peace daily—this “peace that surpasses all understanding.” The world does not understand this peace because it cannot. The kind of peace the world offers is a failed promise of peace, inconsistent, temporary. Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

In order to be conformed to something, you must be connected to, faithful, to whatever or whomever you are placing your faith in. If we put our faith in the world, we will reap what the world offers, the fruits of the flesh. You’ll draw your nourishment from the world if it is your source, your vine. And you’ll get its byproduct, an exact replica of what you’ve been drawing from. The world can only produce its own kind.

Instead of what this world has to offer, Jesus wants to be the Vine you draw from daily. He wants to be your Source.

His gift of salvation, His Spirit, will produce lasting fruit that will sustain you in times of trouble. When those waves of doubt crash into you, you can find the strength in Jesus, you never thought you had. The Helper, God’s Holy Spirit, can and desires to dwell within you. My pastor always says, “Transformation starts from the inside, then makes its way outward.” A person our Lord saves will be transformed from the inside, and all the world will see the fruit of their salvation. 

Do you believe that today?                                                                       

Do you believe that God can bring peace to your mind, healing to your body, and above all, salvation to those who cry out for the forgiveness of their sins?

Jesus can, and He will! He is coming back, friends, brothers, and sisters! It’s only a matter of time—I cling to this truth by faith, believing. Now there are moments, my dear friends, that I will have doubt wash over me. Does it make me a non-believer? Of course not! I am human, and there will be those moments when I fall short in faith. But God will prove Himself faithful when I am lacking. So, if my lack of faith is my thorn in the flesh, I will remember and cling to these words spoken to the apostle Paul:

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” –2 Corinthians 12:9.

A thorn in our flesh could be several things, whether it be fear, doubt, anxiety, depression, an actual sickness, as Scholars suggest it was with the Apostle Paul or a divorce; whatever it may be, a thorn in your side will make you feel weak, causing you to lose focus and fall. But in those moments especially, remember, hold tight to what Jesus said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for May strength is made perfect in weakness.”

 When you posture yourself in surrender to God, He will take over in whatever situation you may be going through. Submission is about our heart of worship and willingness to lay it all down at His feet; when you are tired, worship. When you cannot take another step, worship; when you have lost your job, worship, whatever the enemy is throwing at you, cast your ALL cares and worries on Jesus, and just worship the Lord!

Praise is one of the greatest weapons we have when we are facing trouble. God’s unmerited favor will get you through life’s storms and trials—God’s favor found in knowing His Son, Jesus, will see you through!

Child of God, you have the favor of the Father living inside you! What can this world do to you? Lift your eyes to heaven and know that God is for you.

He has not left you. The apostle Paul writes, “What shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” -Romans 8:31 

I genuinely feel that someone reading this is about to receive their breakthrough.

Doubt is not your portion, dear friend. The keys have been handed to you. Jesus has taken them back from the enemy and now holds all the authority. Move, in the authority you’ve been given, in Jesus’ name!

Friend, if you don’t know Him as Lord, Jesus is waiting for you to take that step and reach out by faith, grab hold of His gift of salvation by repenting your sins and asking Jesus to be Lord of your life. I pray that the Holy Spirit has spoken to you through His inspired teaching and that you will walk out what He’s asking you to do, my friend. Amen

“Jesus, the Way”

Have you ever introduced yourself with an identity other than your name?

Throughout my childhood and into my teenage years, I looked up to my brother immensely. He always took to everything he did so easily. He could draw, did well in school, learned any instrument he picked up quickly, hit home runs in baseball and built whatever his mind could imagine with Legos. I really thought my brother was the pinnacle of what I could become.

His teachers loved him, and our mutual music teachers would rave about his abilities.

Before letting anyone know my name, I would introduce myself as “Aaron’s sister.” I didn’t even realize how much of my identity was attached to being his sister until someone replied, “ok, that’s nice. What’s your name?” It was almost as if they didn’t care who my brother was; they wanted to know me.

All of a sudden, my brother’s shadow was gone, and I realized that I had so tightly interwoven my identity with being Aaron’s sister that I lost a little bit of myself. Don’t get me wrong, I still think my brother is a remarkable human being, but my point rests in the example of an alternate introduction.

In John 14, Jesus introduces Himself through an alternate identity.

Jesus introduces Himself to His disciples as “the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” He doesn’t say that He knows the way and the truth and the life. Jesus says that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Jesus is not referring to the ideology of these terms. Rather, He’s identifying who He is. More than just adjectives, these are nouns that denote His character.

For context, Jesus was describing Heaven to His disciples as He was preparing them for His imminent death.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” – John 14:1-7

One thing I love about Jesus is that He is so intentional with all His words.

His communication style invites inquiry, leading His listeners to seek understanding rather than being ok with the status quo. Instead of Jesus’ telling His disciples they knew where He was going, he said, “You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Being One with God and the very One who came from heaven to earth, Jesus is undoubtedly a reliable source for discovering the way to heaven. He didn’t say He was “a Way” or “one way,” He said he is “THE Way,” and unbeknownst to them, His disciples supposedly know this way!

Thomas’ inquiry into Jesus’ comment led to the revelation that knowing Jesus is knowing the way! Although Jesus referred to heaven in this passage, He also prayed, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” – Matthew 6:10.

If Jesus’ kingdom can come and His will can be done on earth as it is in heaven, then perhaps for the believer, The Way is also for the here and now…

The Way to joy; the Way to freedom; the Way to new life; the Way to forgiveness; the Way to hope. Ultimately the reward is eternity with Jesus, but even here and now, God is so good that He gives us life in abundance. “A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” –John 10:10

To take it a step further, knowing Jesus is also knowing the Truth and the Life. “you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32. If Jesus is the Truth, and He is, then He holds the power to set you free through a relationship with Him and by meditating on His Word.

Today you have the opportunity to know The Way. As you navigate this life, allow yourself to meet Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life who came out of love for you. So that you, too, may have Life in abundance.

“Pilate said to Him, Then You are a King? Jesus answered, You say it! [You speak correctly!] For I am a King. [Certainly I am a King!] This is why I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the Truth. Everyone who is of the Truth [who is a friend of the Truth, who belongs to the Truth] hears and listens to My voice. “ –John 18:37.

In a world where everyone’s truth is the truth, it should not take us by surprise that not even Jesus’ declaration of His being the Truth would escape questioning, as horrifying as that is for those of us who call Jesus Lord. The unremitting, centuries-old scrutiny of Jesus—the doubtfulness and disparity regarding the Truth concerning The Son of God, of His God’s inerrant Word, is nothing new; today’s scripture verse makes this plain. Solomon was right: “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” –Ecclesiastes 1:9.

Since Christ entered this world, men have done their best to defame Jesus’ Holy name, His person and purpose, to deny His very existence. They’ve tried and failed to “bring Him down to size.” To make Jesus ordinary, pass Him off as some nice guy who once walked the earth like many other nice guys before and after Him. Countless people questioned Jesus’ legitimacy in days past, and many still question it today: Who is this Jesus, really? They’ve heard and seen evidence of who God is, yet they refuse to believe.

Still, Christ’s response to such questioning and doubt remains unremitting: “All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.”  

So then, it seems the question each man must settle in his heart is that exact question Pilate once posed to Christ: “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. –John 18:38.

Why? Because their eternal soul is inextricably tied to how they answer this very straightforward question.

Did you catch what Jesus made clear to Pilate—to anyone with ears to hear?

He plainly stated that not only is He alone the Truth, equally, one reason He was born into this world was to testify, proclaim, and profess Truth. And if you receive Truth when it’s spoken, putting it into practice as a doer and not a hearer only, if, like Elizabeth, your belly leaps when Truth is near you, you have likely recognized your Master’s voice. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” –John 10:27.

If so, I pray you will remain faithful to the Truth, hunger and thirst for more and more of Jesus. I pray that you will follow God’s leading and guiding all the days of your life, living pure and holy lives before Him. “If you love me, show it by doing what I’ve told you. I will talk to the Father, and he’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth. The godless world can’t take him in because it doesn’t have eyes to see him, doesn’t know what to look for. But you know him already because he has been staying with you, and will even be in you!” John 14:15.

Because friends, there is no such thing as your or my truth—only The Truth. So then, how or if we receive said Truth—receive Jesus, will determine how we live our lives now and where we will spend eternity. Jesus has made Himself crystal clear: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” –John 14:6.

In a world where we’re told the truth is anything we say it is, where we play little g god over our lives, acting out and being whoever or whatever we say we are or choose to be. In a world where mere men—creation, not Creator- dare alter God’s original work, I am so grateful that Christ is still our Due North.

Every man needs that fixed point on his moral compass by which his life is governed—aligned… “So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.” –Genesis 1:27.

And so I thank Jesus for keeping all those who believe in Him in our right minds—the mind of Christ, for safeguarding us from falling for the lies of the prince of this world. Lies that tell us if it feels right for you, then it is right for you; lies that would have anyone who heeds their treachery build their house on sand—the shifting sands of opinions, trends, and ever-changing feelings. “But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” –Matthew 7:26-27.

God’s Holy Spirit is the only fixed point on life’s compass by which everything must align or realign if it has gone off course. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. –John 14:6.

Everything else you’ve been told, taught, believed, heard on the news or in the court of public opinion is a lie. Yet, to believe this, you must be delivered from the strongholds in your life.

Because behind every stronghold, there is a lie. But behind freedom in Christ, there is Truth. –Pastor Lino Braga, Highland City Church.

And Truth says, if I am a child of God, I am:

“A new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” –2 Corinthians 5:17.

“I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me.” –Philippians 4:13.

“In all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us].” –Romans 8:37.

“I have been chosen by God and adopted as His child.” –Ephesians 1:3-8.

“I am complete in Christ, lacking nothing.” –Colossians 2:9-10.

“In Him and through faith in Him we may enter God’s presence with boldness and confidence.” –Epehians 3:12.

Soap and water are great for cleansing yourself, but not if they’re not used! –Pastor Lino Braga.

Sadly, No true and lasting change can be born in you. None of the above Truths will mean anything in your life; they’ll have no effect—if you choose not to believe. Perhaps strongholds have held your thinking captive for most of your life, blocking the Truth of God’s Word—His promises, from penetrating it. Friend, only a life in Christ Jesus—a relationship with Him, His Holy Spirit alive in you, offers you the sure hope and promise of such freedom and knowledge. “Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” –John 8:34-36.

It is not enough to hear the Truth—you must grab hold of it for yourself. Clinging, white-knuckled to it, like a drowning man to a life ring! Why? Because Truth is Who God’s Living Word is—Truth is Jesus Christ. “In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.” –John 1:1.

And only through a relationship with Jesus, by placing the full weight of your trust in Him, can any man be restored to a right relationship with Father God. And this is Truth, believe it or not.

So please, don’t let one more day pass you by without knowing Jesus personally or inviting Him into your heart. Just talk to God, ask Him in, and He’ll come and begin a new work in your life. “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. God is a Faithful God, He will never start something and not finish it.” –Philippians 1:6.

Serving God Out Of Pain Or Passion.

Are you serving God out of your pain or out of passion?

Is it possible to do both? Friends, I believe the answer is Yes. The Cross is a combination of both pain and passion. Jesus suffered much pain for us, yet His passion was that we would be reconciled to the Father. For everyone who believes, John 3:16 makes that so clear. We will not perish but have eternal life. If you are reading this and have yet to accept the Lord Jesus into your heart, today is the day! I encourage you to do so.

The beautiful thing about Christ’s pain and passion was and is still; we witness how God longs to communion with us through it. And get this. He really wants to share secrets with us.

Recently, I was standing in line at a fast-food joint and out of the corner of my eyes, I noticed two little girls whispering and giggling freely with one another while what seemed to be their mother placed an order for happy meals. As I stood there, I could not help but wonder, what were these little girls talking about? What secrets could they possibly be sharing with one another? And then it occurred to me: God has secrets. God has secrets that He longs to share and reveal to us. The Bible says, “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.” –Deuteronomy 29:29.

As I have been reading through the book of Deuteronomy, this passage stroked my heart so. “The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all of your heart and with all of your soul and live.” –Deuteronomy 30:6.

Now, I’ve never been circumcised; however, removing the foreskin sounds painful. Its original purpose was to set the Jew apart from others and, more importantly, to solidify their commitment to God’s Convent—that being their heart was indeed for the Lord. Throughout my reading of Deuteronomy, the theme I found the Lord speaking most of was that He wants our hearts. He wants us to live in His rest, in His will. He desires us to be truly free despite pain and adversity—living above whatever circumstance we might face. And the beauty of all this is that God wants that we LIVE free even when we are in pain!

Did you catch that part in the above passage? Because I sure did!

Sometimes that pain can come through life challenges, disappointments, and setbacks. Over the years, I’ve found the purpose of God allowing such pain is often tied to the condition of our hearts. And if we are intentionally mindful of what’s happening within them, we might see those painful moments are actually heart “check-ins”—or circumcisions. God nudging us to examine some part of our lives, walk, our attitude—or His removing something from us entirely because it does not reflect His own heart.

Friends, it is possible to be passionate in the midst of your pain.

It is possible to allow your heart to wonder, linger and desire more from the Lord. Keep hoping and believing for more! What pain has touched your life, making it seem too hard to worship or praise Him? To serve God? What pains and transitions keep you distracted from Him? Because as painful as the process of circumcision sounds, there are rewards to the process. Being set apart comes with rewards and blessings!  

For instance, have you ever wondered, “What in the world is the lord doing in my life?”

Are you in that place in life where there are so many transitions and decisions to make that you’re just not sure which one to choose? Or opportunities that were once before you seem to be ending, and you’re not sure what your next move should be.

Friends, can I say once more that God Has secrets to share, and He has answers for your questioning heart? 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 says: “However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard and what no human mind has conceived”—the things God has prepared for those who love him—these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except for their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.”

Friends, God longs to reveal secrets to us freely. I hope you caught that! So, stay passionate about pursuing Him even in the midst of your pain. The circumcision process is definitely painful, but it also has its purpose and its rewards. And one of its best rewards is our being in constant fellowship with God—the Reveler of all Truths.

Be Salt And Light…

His Blessings on you all, and praise the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, my dear brothers, and sisters. We have just finished celebrating our Lord’s glorious resurrection, and though Sunday has passed, we should not stop celebrating. Jesus alone conquered the grave for you and me. He alone bankrupts’ heaven so that we may have eternal life in Him. You were slaves to your sins, but by the Blood of Jesus, YOU, my dear friend, have been set free, set apart from a world falling deeper into its darkness.

The eyes of this world are growing very dim, and soon they may never see again. But Jesus has come to be the Light of the world! If you have received Him as Lord and Savior, He has placed His Light in you so that you, too, may be a light that shines in these darkest of days.

Jesus teaches us in Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot of men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

I remember reading that scripture for the first time, thinking, “How does salt lose its flavor? “It’s only salt, so why is this significant?”

 Little did I know God would reveal this through His Spirit. Salt purifies; it keeps things from spoiling. It’s used to preserve meats, butter, and cheese. And here in New England, we use it to keep our roads from freezing during the cold, icy winter months. Believe me, if you drove on any stretch of road not plowed and treated with salt, you would likely find yourself in a ditch!

So too, if you get sidetracked by the cares of this world. Harmful things will try to grow in you, such as fear and depression.

But remember, my friends, “God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” –2 Timothy 1:7. If we allow the things of this world to be our only concern, we will lose flavor. Remember, Jesus has set you apart to teach and spread the good news! Our mission, as long as we are here, is to tell others what Jesus has done for us. Remember also that if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are no longer a slave to sin because the precious Blood of Jesus has ransomed you. Amen, Amen!

Romans 5:8-9 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, We shall be saved from wrath through Him.”

Did you know that blood is not made up of just water? True story! The “watery” portion of blood, called plasma, has a salt concentration. How amazing is our God who created you and gave you life! His design is flawless; to say anything else is a lie straight from the pits of hell!

Jesus came in the likeness of a man to forgive us of our sins. God took on flesh that He might die for us! His Blood is pure and holy! As salt prevents harmful things from spoiling the good, so does God’s Living Word. All Life is in the Blood of Jesus!

Remember, dear brothers and sisters, you have the Word living in you.

You are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Made new when you received Jesus as Lord and Savior. The Blood of Jesus has washed away those wicked sins that once ruled over you. Jesus’ Blood purifies you. Christ has forgiven you! Isaiah 56:4-6 “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgression, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, everyone to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” 

John 1:4-5 “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it.”

If you have a relationship with Jesus, then His Holy Spirit has made His abode in you; You are a light bearer, dear friends. The Holy Spirit burns within you, yet you need to keep this fire burning. How? You must be “all in” for that to happen. Just visiting a church on Sundays and then being off and running doing your own thing, existing to please man during the week. Keeping a basket over your light so it is dim to others won’t work. We cannot afford doublemindedness. Either you are fully in, serving Christ, or out in the world.

And if you’re on the fence, “Get off!” The fence is a dangerous place to be.

Jesus told the Apostle John this about the lukewarm church: “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth.” –Revelation 3:15-16. My dear brothers and sisters, we are the Church, Jesus’ Bride. Yet here, God warns us that He will expel us if our relationship with Him is lukewarm.

The words we should fear hearing from the Lord are “Away from Me; I do not know you.”

And if the chance of hearing those Words doesn’t put you on your face, then your fire is smoldering. You’ve become lukewarm. And I pray you will ask the Holy Spirit to check if you feel lukewarm. I say this to keep you accountable because I love you with brotherly love in Christ Jesus.

As I close know this: the Word of God is living in each of you—if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. His Word purifies you, and His Spirit burns within you. You belong to Christ Jesus, who has forgiven you of all your sins.

And for those who yet know Jesus, please understand that you are not “too far gone.” The thief on the cross repented of His sins and was on the threshold of death. All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. So, if you are joining us for the first time and don’t have a relationship with Jesus, I invite you, by faith, to repent of your sins, ask Jesus to forgive you, and receive the free gift of salvation.

I pray God’s goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life. Amen.

Kingdom Acceptance.

Hello to all my brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus. It is finally here. Spring has come! A new season is upon us, meaning new opportunities for those praying for breakthroughs in their families.

Spring is a time of rebirth, and those old habits and mindsets shall be put to rest. I pray, dear friends, that the renewing of your mind has begun. I pray that new ministries will be birthed through each of you and that I truly believe some “unfinished” works are being brought back into remembrance by our Lord Jesus. It was only for a season, my friends, that those works were laid down. It is time to pick it up again. Praise God! 

As I was reading my devotional this morning, the title struck me. The devotional was titled “Rejecting the Spirit of Rejection” and what a timely word it was—and is. My dear friends, so many of us have gone through times of rejection. Even in our Christian walk, we will go through times of rejection. At school or the workplace, there are moments when the world will try to make us believe that we are the “odd man looking in.” That is just not true.

Jesus told us it would be difficult, especially how the world views believers. But we are sanctified by the Blood of the Lamb and have been set apart to be holy and righteous, set apart, dear friends, to do good works. The apostle Paul makes this very bold statement:  Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. “ So as difficult as times or seasons may be, stand firm and do not be ashamed of Jesus—or His Word; God’s mercy has saved you in Christ Jesus.

That rejection you may experience from the world should not be something for you to be saddened over. God said through the prophet Isaiah, “The grass withers, the flower fades, because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and flower fades, But the Word of our God stands forever.” –Isaiah 40:7-8. Now we all have stories of how family members or some friends have stopped talking to us because of our faith in Jesus. I know I have. Still, we cannot give up on those loved ones because Jesus never gave up on us. Even while we were sinners, Christ died for us. But these trials and rejections still hurt dear friends. Oh, how they hurt. But In all things, we are to pray and petition our Lord that He will give us the strength to endure. 

Think about the night when Jesus was betrayed and turned over to the temple guards. He prayed to the Father for comfort. He cried to the Father, “O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass over Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”—Matthew 25:39. What an earnest prayer He prayed. Do you think Jesus did not know rejection? His very own people did not recognize Him as the Messiah, and a few moments after He prayed a second time, His own disciples scattered and left Him. And Jesus prayed, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.”—Matthew 26:42

Even when we feel there is no hope, our heavenly Father is still in it with us.

So If God does not remove the rejection or fiery trial from you, He will go through it with you. He will be your strength and courage. Jesus endured everything He went through on this earth with you in mind. He did it all for you, so you will never face rejection or trials alone. He promised His Holy Spirit to be with you always.

Jesus said, “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.” –John 15:26.

“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” – John 16:13

You may not see or feel God, but Jesus is in your every circumstance or trial, and His promises are always there for you. You may have to drink this cup, but it will not last. Psalm 30:8  assures you of that! “Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning” Oh, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice! Jesus assures us the world may reject you, but He never will: “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who come to Me I will by no means cast out.” –John 6:37. 

God promises, through His son, we will never be forgotten or set aside. You are the apple of God’s Eye, dear friends.

No man can make this promise and keep it. For man, this is impossible. But with God, all things are possible. His love for you is as wide as the east is from the west; there is no end to God’s love for you. As humans, we will always fall short. We will let our flesh get in the way, and we will let each other down; true story. We will never, ever know the type of rejection our Lord did. I mean, EVER! But, when rejection does come, and it will, we need to see it as an opportunity to pray, Oh heavenly Father, let this coming rejection pass from me, Lord, and let Your will be done during this trial.

Allow His will to be done during times of trials and discouragement. It’s during that time of rejection, and testing is when your faith will truly grow.

We may not recognize it immediately, but God always answers our prayers. Even His “no” is an answer or His “not right now.” It may not be the answer you seek, but we need to trust the process. Some pressing, crushing, and very uncomfortable moments may be attached to your faith being stretched, but trust the process. 

Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

As I close my dear brothers and sisters, I invite anyone who is reading this and does not know our Lord Jesus to confess your sins to Jesus and allow Him to make His abode in your heart. Proclaim Him as Lord and Savior over your life. Be washed clean by His blood, and be renewed in your spirit. Jesus loves you with an everlasting love, and He wants nothing more than to be in a relationship with you. This day is your day for salvation! Amen.

Hunger Again.

Hunger. It’s a part of our human experience.

It is a healthy sign, a signal that our bodies need fuel. Hunger leads us to supply the proper nourishment that every cell of every organ needs. When we go for extended periods without feeling hungry, that is a sign that something is wrong. A decreased appetite is a classic sign of physical or mental sickness. In the same way, our spiritual hunger is a great gauge of our spiritual health. I am not saying that hunger is the gauge for our spiritual health. Rather, dwindling hunger can be a sign that something is wrong. If you feel tired or have lost your hunger for the things of God, you are not alone, and there are ways to get your hunger back!

“We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” — Hebrews 5:11-14

Heavy as this passage may be, I am filled with encouragement as I read it with eyes of hope.

If we are not careful, life can get in the way, pulling us away from dwelling in the Truth of God’s Word, not the advice of His word, the Truth. There is such value in finding a church family who can help keep you grounded. While there is an ideology that states, “I don’t need to go to church to be a Christian,” the truth found in the Word of God instructs us “not forsake gathering with other believers.” –Hebrews 10:25. Isolation yourself is a sure way to fade away from God, losing your spiritual hunger. Getting together with like-minded people helps us refocus on the Truth of the Gospel when we lose sight of what matters.

On the flip side, religiously attending church can breed complacency when you stop trying. Have you stopped trying to understand the things of God? Have you stopped trying to listen to His word with an open heart, allowing His transformative Word to penetrate deeply? A spiritual regression can happen when you begin to lose your hunger. You begin to lose your spiritual appetite, leading you to rely on others for sustenance. This is the milk that Hebrews is referring to. This milk is hand fed to you by others because you forgot how to feed yourself with the solid food that once fed your mature spirit. God wants you to feed yourself! “I am the bread of life; he who come to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.” — John 6:35

What do you do when you’re not hungry?

How do you stir up that hunger again? First, you have to be consistent. Like that chicken soup that’s hard to stomach when you’re in the middle of a cold, seek Him when you don’t feel like it. Read His word daily. “…he may learn to fear the Lord his God by carefully observing all the words of this law and these statutes…” — Deuteronomy 17:19. You can learn to fear the Lord by reading and spending time with Him. The Bible is a beautiful teacher because it is breathed from His lungs.

Second, ask the Holy Spirit for help. “The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” — John 14:26.

As our helper, the Holy Spirit is our teacher and reminds us of what we study from the Bible. When you read your Bible with a heart-seeking understanding, your appetite will grow again. With the help of the Holy Spirit, you will begin to grow out of milk and back into the solid food found at the table of the Lord. This solid food provides sustenance that will mature your spirit again. He will help you train yourself to distinguish good from evil, so you’re not lukewarm.

If you’ve lost your hunger, pick up your sword again today.

If you feel that you have no desire for the things of God, I invite you to ask Jesus into your life and begin to grow in the Spirit and find belonging in the family of God! He cares for you and wants your spirit to be healthy and fed. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” — Matthew 5:6

Hello to all my dear brothers and sisters in our Lord. I am praying that His mercies are covering you and that His peace comforts you in all situations you may be going through in this season. And to all those who have yet to accept Jesus as Lord, welcome, and I pray that you ask Jesus into your heart today. I do need to start this on a serious note, however. Today, in my city,  many parents received an email stating that the local public schools were in lockdown due to a threat of sorts. As it turns out, it was merely a hoax, a cruel joke played by someone lost in the dark. I hear these stories of public schools being raided by a gunman, and I think about how horrible this act truly is. These attacks are direct assaults from the pits of hell. My heart cries out for every student, parent, and teacher involved.

I praise our Lord that nothing came from this, and everyone is safe.

Yet I would never have thought this would happen so close to home. I am sure many of you reading this can relate on some level. Some of you may have similar stories, and if you do, please, know that I am standing in the gap for you. This twisted, nightmare-like fright results from God being banished from our schools. Other idols and gods have been allowed to set up residence. Baals, these false gods, have come for our children. And as this present darkness has settled in, people have become increasingly blind to it.

Now, any invitation or initiative to allow God’s Light into the many social systems and structures that once allowed Him free access, to be first and foremost in the classrooms and courthouses across this great land, has, for the most part, been rescinded.

But, my brothers and sisters, there is still hope for Christ to be restored to His rightful place in our land. As parents, pastors, leaders, and teachers, we must teach and raise the next generation of giant slayers to live full out for Christ.

Proverbs 22:6  instructs us, “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not part from it.”

Psalm 33:12 tells us, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance. “ This passage of scripture speaks of the covenant God made not with the United States but with the nation of Israel. However, America was established, likened to a blueprint of Israel. How? Judeo-Christian values founded America. Yet as a nation, much like Israel, how far we have strayed from God, His Word, and statues. In his “City on a Hill” speech, John Winthrop said:  “But if our hearts shall turn away, so that we will not obey, but shall be seduced, and worship and serve other gods, our pleasure and profits, and serve them…we shall surely perish.”

But if we adhere to the promise God gives to the nation of Israel, we will see the fruit of that promise in our lives. When we as a people submit to God, He watches and leads His people. In Deuteronomy 7:12-13, God gives this amazing promise to Moses and the entire nation of Israel.

“Then it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments, and keep and do them, that the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers. And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you.”

Only through Jesus shall we share in that inheritance promised from the very beginning. Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law. And His Love sets us free from the Law. “For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” –Romans 8:2.

The blood of Jesus is the atonement for our sins. So to receive this forgiveness for our sins, we need to accept Jesus as Lord by acknowledging we are sinners, sincerely asking God for His forgiveness, and then living our lives submitted to Jesus. “Be fruitful,” says God. Live in abundance because Jesus has come to give you life and make it more abundant! “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” –Genesis 1:28.

Take dominion of the land that God has given you. Take authority of your household and let the enemy know that the battle is the Lord’s and he, your enemy, is defeated! Raise up your children on the foundation of the gospel of Jesus Christ that they will go into these schools and proclaim that the Kingdom of God has come! Repent! and believe in the Good News!

The night that Jesus was betrayed, He spoke to His disciples and said, “I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.” –John 14:30.

Satan has no authority over Jesus because He is God’s Son, meaning that all authority has been given to Jesus by God the Father. “All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” –Matthew 11:27

So then, the invitations have been sent out, dear family. How will you respond? If you’ve already said yes to Jesus, continue to extend His invitation by sharing the Good News that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Remember, we are to deliver these invitations throughout the world. “I am the vine, you are the branches, He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” –John 15:5.

And if you are reading this, dear friend, and do not know Jesus as Lord, this is your invitation. Today is the day of salvation. Do not cast this moment away! This invitation is one you want to take advantage of. Ask Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins, then allow Him to wash them all away with His precious Blood. Ask Him to come into your heart and make His home in you. “As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” –Hebrews 3:15.

Welcome to the wedding feast! Now, your seat is ready. Amen

The Meditation of Your Heart.

God is still speaking.

The daytime often proves itself a cluttered space for our souls. Identifying the voice of God in the midst of our mess becomes a challenge the busier our schedules get.

It was about three o’clock in the morning when a thought awoke me. I say “thought” because I am wary of labeling my ideas and thoughts as “the voice of God.” Our own thoughts and perceptions can often lead us to believe that they are the voice of God if we’re not cautious. This thought that woke me up was, “read Joshua 1:8.” In my tired haze, I said, “I already know what that verse says. I don’t need to read that right now; at three am. What I need now is sleep.” Although getting up at that moment was the last thing I wanted to do, it was as if that thought had awoken me with a megaphone.

No matter how hard I tried, I could not fall back asleep until I read Joshua 1:8. So, I got up and read the verse that I thought said, “be strong and courageous.”  My own arrogance had caught me. I realized right then that it wasn’t a mere thought that woke me up. It really was God trying to teach me something. He gently woke me up in the still of the night when I was void of distraction to tell me something that I otherwise would not have heard through the noise of a busy day.

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. –Joshua 1:8

You see, I already knew what the surrounding verse said, “be strong and courageous,” but God was showing me the “how-to.” It was right there in the adjacent verse! It’s easy to declare, “do not fear,” “be brave,” and “be strong and courageous.” These phrases are much easier said than done and are not helpful in and of themselves. But thankfully, God is so gracious to give us direction and answers, the “how to’s” found in His Word.

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips.

As the Lord of Armies (Isaiah 47:4), courage is in God’s nature. Studying and knowing His Word often bring with it the spirit of courage. We are confident in God’s abilities when we are secure in what He says. Surely we can all say that the more we study and become proficient in something, whether our jobs or roles at home, the more confidence we gain in that particular area. As a nurse, I become more confident in my practice as I study and learn about the human body and its healing processes. The same goes for the things of the spirit. When we are well acquainted with what Jesus says in His Word, we can live courageously and confidently, knowing that we abide by His instructions.

Meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.

What do you meditate on? In the middle of the night, are you kept awake by anxiety? Or do you choose to fix your thoughts on God’s goodness? The promises He has set in His Word?

Because what you meditate on will eventually lead to your actions. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he….” –Proverbs 23:7. Simply put, if you meditate on worldly thoughts, and are guided by them, then you will begin to live as the world tells you. But, if you meditate on the Lord’s instructions, you will start to live as His Word teaches. Meditating on God’s Word will lead you to be obedient.

God wants our hearts. Jesus said, “if you love me, you’ll keep my commandments.” –John 14:15.

When our hearts delight in Jesus, obeying Him, His Word brings us joy. Although it may not always be easy, the believer knows that the reward is living with clean hands and a pure heart, and ultimately, the greatest reward is communion with God. His Word branded on our lips cultivates wisdom to live rightly before God. Living in obedience brings a far greater reward than surrendering to fear repeatedly. There is, after all, nothing to fear when we are living for the Lord because His perfect love casts out all fear. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. –1 John 4:18.

As we strive to do everything in love, there is no room for fear, only courage. Have faith. God will pave the way before you.

And this type of courage comes from abiding in Jesus. Obedience to God brings with it the blessing of prosperity and success, according to God’s will. Be it spiritual, physical, financial, or in our interpersonal goals. God will go before you, strengthening and guiding you as you prioritize His statutes.

So if you don’t know God, I invite you to ask Him to show Himself to you in a real way. Ask Him into your life today. He will make your crooked paths straight when you surrender your ways to Him. Start by first praying and asking God for understanding. Then, read the Bible and meditate on the Words written on the pages. Remember them and ask Jesus to help you apply them to your life. As you open your heart to Him, He will become faithful to you. He will prove Himself real in your life. The True and faithful God! Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. –John 14:6.
