Saturation Point.

“They will fall by the sword, or be carried off into slavery among all the Gentiles. And Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, till the appointed times of the Gentiles have expired.” –Luke 21:24

As I read today’s Scripture, its last nine words came alive. God’s Logos, His written Word, became Rhema, a Living Word. I couldn’t help but think of everything happening in Israel right now. Let me explain: the Holy Spirit mostly speaks a Rhema Word into our spirit as we read His Written Word. It’s made alive and often applies to a right-now situation in our lives or the world around us. A Rhema Word is the Holy Spirit drawing our attention to or confirming something of importance. In every case, God’s Rhema Word must align with His written Word—His Logos. Holy Spirit is a God of order, not confusion. He will not “share” something with any of His children that does not align with what He has already spoken in His inerrant Scriptures.

“When, Lord? “When will the fullness of the Gentiles be complete?”

“When will You rapture Your Church?”

Those questions were burning in my heart as I read today’s Scripture. Like many brothers and sisters, I, too, am “watching and waiting” for our Lord’s return.

A greater sense of expectation has gripped me lately—an even deeper longing has been awakened.

Today, that growing expectation made me ask: “When will You call us Home, Lord?”

This world is not our home, and it’s undoubtedly nearing its saturation point. How much further will You allow things to deteriorate before You say, “Come on Home?

Abba, I’m not questioning You. I’m asking You a question, putting to words the recurring thoughts in so many of Your children’s hearts, Lord. “Are we one drop, five, ten drops even from this world having reached its absolute ability to contain the sin, hatred, hardheartedness, rebellion and rejection of You and most anything to do with You?

Will my brothers, sisters, and I live to be raptured?”

Mind you, either way, we won’t stand idly by, just watching the sky or the news for signs—concerning the rapture, they’ve been fulfilled. Still, while we watch, wait, trust, and pray to the Lord of the harvest, we’ll fish for men.

Yet I’m hoping that today, no, before this sentence is finished…

“It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.” –1 Corinthians 15:52.

Still, I wanted to know more about those nine words Holy Spirit brought to life to answer my question.

I’ll pause here to clarify that Scripture clearly states no man knows the day or hour the rapture will occur, so, straightaway, what this teaching is not, is a false prophetic word concerning the Church being raptured. Given today’s climate, I choose to leave nothing open for interpretation.

As I said, I wanted to know the meaning behind today’s Scripture, so I went digging.

I read more concerning the historical background of Jerusalem and the Jewish people. That led me back to the Bible, to Jesus and today’s verse, then to the Apostle Paul and his teaching on the meaning of the fullness of the Gentiles. “I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, and in this way all Israel will be saved.” –Romans 11:25-26.

At the end of the day, Jesus and the Apostle Paul confirm that a divinely set number of Gentile believers must first accept Jesus as Lord and Savior before every living Jew will be saved, having finally accepted the Truth that Jesus is the Messiah.

In roughly A.D. 70, Jerusalem received its fatal blow at the hands of Rome, its oppressor, where, it’s said, some 1.1 million Jews had been murdered and where approximately 100,000 others were enslaved, used to feed Rome’s insatiable appetite for dominance. Of this horrific atrocity, Johannes Norval Geldenhuys, a South African minister and Bible Commentator, writes: From the commencement of the history of the Jewish nation, God, through His servants, warned them clearly that if they behaved unfaithfully and wickedly, they would reap disastrous retribution. Especially the striking words of Deuteronomy 28:15-68. There is almost no form of calamity that visited the Jews during the Roman-Jewish war, not mentioned here in Deuteronomy.

I strongly recommend you pick up your Bible and read what the Lord warned would happen to His chosen people should they disobey Him. And then, ask yourself, if God did not allow His firstborn to escape the consequences of their deliberate sin and rebellion, what makes anyone today think that they will escape God’s judgement if they refuse to repent of their intentional, flagrant sins?

I share this Truth in love, not to frighten you but to remind us all, starting with myself, that we serve a God who is the same yesterday, today and forever. Full of mercy, longsuffering, and whose heart it is certainly, that not one should perish, yet He’s also a just God who will not allow his creations to reject Him forever. “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” –2 Peter 3:9.

God’s heart is that no one tastes destruction—that which was created for Satan and his followers.

Some commentators say that when Rome had sated its savage appetite, having devoured Jerusalem and its people, not one Jew was left alive. In addition, no Jew was allowed to enter Jerusalem save one day a year—when they were allowed to enter and mourn the ravaging of their people, Jerusalem’s utter destruction, and its renaming at the hand of its Roman conquerors.

Even then, to ensure nothing of the Jews remained, Rome renamed and rebuilt a city atop Jerusalem’s ruins, calling it Aelia Capitolina.

Antisemitism is nothing new.

Knowing that He had forewarned His people of the inescapable destruction to come upon them and their land should they choose not to obey Him, is it any wonder that as Jesus drew near Jerusalem and, seeing into its near future, the utter pain and destruction yet to come, He wept? “Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things [that make] for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. “For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, “and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.” –Luke 19:41-44.

In 1948, a Jewish state was established by what can only be described as the Sovereign Hand of God after thousands of years of its people having been scattered, existing in exile. Yet it wasn’t until 1967 that Israel took control of the Old City in the Six-Day War with Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. And yet, even to this very day, Arab Gentiles continue to reign over the most contested site in all of Jerusalem – the Temple Mount.

And so, we wait and watch while we continue to work—knowing that, at least for today, the fullness of the Gentiles has yet to occur.

Unless, suddenly…

Friends, the fullness of the Gentiles is about God not wanting any man—Jew or Gentile, to perish. So, if you have yet to accept Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior, please do it today. Listen to Jesus’ Words concerning the hour we find ourselves: “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” Matthew 24: 36-37; 42:44.

Elohim: Redeemer God.

“And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.” –Ezekiel 36:27. We serve the One True God—Creator of all things, seen and unseen. From Genesis to Revelation, God is unchanging, self-existing—Alpha and Omega. And because Jesus has no beginning or end, we can lay the Old Testament alongside the New and witness their continuity and agreement. Compare, for instance, how the Apostle Paul’s words found in the New Testament echo the words of the Prophet Ezekiel found in the Old Testament. “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” –Philippians 2:13.

And here, in 1 Corinthians 10:11, speaking of the things which took place in the Old Testament, in Israel’s past, Paul shares a Biblical Truth which points, in part, to why there is agreement and continuity found throughout the Bible: “Now these things happened to them as an example and warning [to us]; they were written for our instruction [to admonish and equip us], upon whom the ends of the ages have come.”

From the beginning, whenever that was, Jesus loved you with a never-ending love.

“Now the earth was formless and empty, and darkness was on the surface of the watery depths. And God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.” –Genesis 1:2. This same Spirit, this Fluttering God, this Sweeping Wind, the God who compasses about, who broods and moves over and in those He indwells, as some versions describe Him, is seen hovering over Israel in Deuteronomy 32:10 “He found them in a ·desert [wilderness], a windy, ·empty [unformed; Gen. 1:2] land. He surrounded them and brought them up, guarding them as those he loved very much [the apple/pupil of his eye].”

And just as our Faithful and True God led Israel, His firstborn, through the wilderness, that arid, untamed, and hostile place, we also witness Jesus leading us, His Church.

Beloved, you and I have always been on God’s mind—the very apple of His eye.

God the Spirit, present at creation, hovering over the dark void, foreknew you long before God the Father created you for Himself—in Christ. Our Triune God has always worked as One. “Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth.” –Genesis 1:26.

Only God could accomplish such a thing: all things made new—including you and me, because of Jesus and the Divine transfer at Calvary—Innocent Blood shed, the guilty found innocent—the spiritually dead, restored to life eternal.

He who knew no sin was made sin that we might have a right relationship with the Father.

And, to ensure we would not be afraid and have all we’d need to accomplish what God has predestined us to do and be in Christ, Jesus does not leave us orphans. His work complete, Jesus returns to the Father, but not before He gives us the promise of His Spirit—His engagement ring. “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” –John 14:26-27.

Jehovah our Redeemer: Jesus is the Bridge God used to unite all things in Himself.

Found with the Father and Spirit in eternity past, all things have been established by Jesus, for Jesus, through Jesus and are held together in Jesus. “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” –Colossians 1:16-17.

We first glimpse the foreshadowing of the innocent being sacrificed, slain to cover the guilty, in the Old Testament, Genesis 3:21. “The LORD God made tunics of [animal] skins for Adam and his wife and clothed them.” Having laid down His life for those He loved, Jesus closed the gap some claim exists between the Old and New Testament. And yet, for those with eyes to see, it is evidenced in Scripture that Jesus has always been the self-existing God. Jesus is His Living Word.

God chose the innocent to be sacrificed for the sake of the guilty.

In Genesis 17: 7, our Redeemer promised Abraham: “I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.”

From Genesis to Revelation, God’s Word has consistently pointed us in one unified direction: toward Jesus, God’s sinless Lamb, and the saving work of His Life, death, and resurrection.

So if you are a Blood-bought believer in covenant relationship with Jesus Christ, having accepted the Eternal God as your Lord and Savior, I’ve come to remind you that God’s promise to Father Abraham is also yours, beloved. “Abraham, our father of faith, believed God, and the substance of his faith released God’s righteousness to him. So the true children of Abraham have the same faith as their father! And the Scripture prophesied that on the basis of faith God would declare gentiles to be righteous. God announced the good news ahead of time to Abraham: “Through your example of faith, all the nations will be blessed!” And so the blessing of Abraham’s faith is now our blessing too!” –Galatians 3:6-9.

Our redemption was accomplished when Jesus, out of obedience and love for His Father, left heaven, allowing Himself to be wrapped in flesh to be born of a virgin, died, fully God and fully man, and was resurrected on the third day by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus returned then to His Father, the Sovereign One He loves and trusts above all else, making intercession even now for His children. “Look with wonder at the depth of the Father’s marvelous love that he has lavished on us! He has called us and made us his very own beloved children. The reason the world doesn’t recognize who we are is that they didn’t recognize him.” –1 John 3:1.

Times are dark, friend, and getting darker by the minute. So here’s my question to you. Will you recognize Jesus as Lord? Will you choose to trust that Jesus is the only way to the Father and enjoy a loving, Holy Spirit-filled relationship with Them? “Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” –John 14:6.

If so, here is Their promise to you: “For if you publicly declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will experience salvation. The heart that believes in him receives the gift of the righteousness of God—and then the mouth confesses, resulting in salvation.” –Romans 10:9-10.recognize Him?

Creator and creations.

“For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set] so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].” –Ephesians 2:10.

Michelangelo’s Statue of David, created between 1501 and 1504, is known for its remarkable details, particularly in the right hand. This iconic statue was carved from a single 6-ton slab of marble that two other sculptors had discarded due to flaws. The marble lay exposed to the elements for 26 years before a 26-year-old Michaelangelo was awarded the commission.

Today, we will endeavor to peer into the mind of our Creator God, skimming a finger across the surface of His plans and abilities, predestined works designed and assigned for us and to us—before God called us into being—these plans set in stone if you will, before the foundation of the world. Think of it: Our Father has afforded us the privilege of partnering with Him in good works.

The Sovereign God of the universe, our Creator, Jesus, allows us to carry such knowledge and treasure within our mere earthen vessels– mind-blowing!

Michelangelo, endowed by God with the vision and ability to coax delicate veins and whisper-thin fingernails out of unforgiving marble, God affords you and me our unique talents and giftings, some small glimmer of His distinct abilities splashed onto us—enabling us. Such awe-inspiring skills and attributes are partly shared, Creator to creation, witnessed in the fullness and potency of His Majestic imagination in creation.

Think of it: Before anything materialized in the natural world, any gift bestowed to a man—everything was first conceived in God—in the realm of the Spirit—then made manifest by Elohim, Creator God.

Omniscience and Omnipotence united in a single cause—creation. “Thus saith God the Lord (he that created the heavens and spread them abroad: he that stretched forth the earth, and the buds thereof: he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein.” –Isaiah 42:5.Your skills, talents and abilities, eye color, lifespan, every breath, the planets, plants and trees, gifts from God, their genesis, a thought, originated in the mind of The Creator of all things. “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” –Revelation 4:11.

Bible: “By faith [that is, with an inherent trust and enduring confidence in the power, wisdom and goodness of God] we understand that the worlds (universe, ages) were framed and created [formed, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose] by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.” –Hebrews 11:3.

Now understand this beloved of God: This same Creator God, Sovereign in power and abilities, this Master Craftsman, Originator, Initiator, Sustainer, Author of your faith, gifts, and talents, fashioned you with great intention in Christ Jesus. Complete with a detailed plan for your life. Work for your hands to accomplish, hearts to mend and lives to minister to. So I’ll remind you, child of God, that you were created on purpose for a purpose, in Christ Jesus, and you are loved with a kind of love that is far too big and enveloping—too far-reaching and profound for us in our finite forms to embrace fully. “For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works.”

God, the Master craftsman, the Originator of all things, crafted you with an eye and attention to detail galaxies beyond Michaelangelo’s preschool ability to carve David’s likeness from a marble slab.

God, whose capabilities make Rembrandt’s exquisite brushstrokes look like mere arts and crafts projects, spoke, and whole galaxies burst forth—vibrant and pulsing.

God, whose mind conceived an artery, sight, the complexity of the human heart, brain, and oceans, created you with everything you would ever need to do, everything He had mapped out for you to do—before the world’s foundation. “Which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set] so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].”

Hear God’s Words today, not mine. Cling to them as Living proof of Jesus’ Divine intention and purpose in creating you. You are God’s Masterpiece. Cherished and adored. God says it this way: “You are one who is precious in my eyes! You are glorious and I have loved you! I have given men in exchange for you, and peoples in exchange for your life!” – Isaiah 43:4.

A man may have called you a mistake, unwanted, unplanned, but not God.

Yet, you’re not alone if you wrestle with believing this Truth. Many of our brothers and sisters who love and serve the Lord struggle with wrapping the unhealed areas of their hurting hearts around this Truth. So if you are faltering in embracing the Truth that you are God’s Masterpiece, having been sealed in Christ Jesus on purpose for a purpose before the foundation of the world—know that I am praying God heal whatever broke your heart or trust.

I’m praying, too, that you will remember to live by faith and not according to your hurt feelings.

Please, don’t allow what others have done to you, their failures, cruelty, unthinking, uncaring actions to harden your heart against ever fully receiving God’s unplumbed, healing, enlivening, restorative, Pure and peaceable Love.

You are not an accident, Beloved of the Lord! Drink in God’s Truth: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!” –Psalm 139:13-17.

Beloved of God, our limitedness, our inability to fully conceive or take a thing in, does not negate God’s Truth, His Omniscience and Omnipotence, nor His ability to place such a thing within us—within our reach, the scope of our ability to interact or partake of it. The same Creator who gifted Michelangelo and Rembrandt, who poured the Psalms into David’s belly and then pulled them out that they might edify us, chose you—crafting you precisely as you are.

Suppose you belong to—have a relationship with Him who created you. In that case, the Infallible proof of the following bold declaration is possible because, paraphrasing Scripture, God told the Apostle Paul: “Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.”

Do you think that our Sovereign, Creator God, seeing your end from your beginning, would entrust you with carrying such Treasure as His Holy Spirit, who enables you to fulfill the good works God has predestined for you and has gifted you with the ability to co-create with Him, if He could not guard such eternal treasures, keeping them and you until His return? “I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return].” –Philippians 1:6.

Dear friend, if you have your sight, you have seen evidence of this Creator God I’ve spoken of today. —God made sure of that. Father God wanted to ensure you do not miss Him.

Everything He created was done with you in mind, for your pleasure and benefit, because Jesus loves you. You may not know Him personally yet, so I invite you to do that now. Ask Jesus to be The Lord of your life. Tell Him you’re genuinely sorry for your sins and want a lifelong relationship with Him. He’ll do the rest. “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” –Romans 1:20

Fight The Good Fight!

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith.” –2 Timothy 4:7.

Throughout the life of a believer, there will be hardships, struggles and pain. As Christians, we are called to persevere—keep moving forward. As difficult as that may be at times, we must remember we fight and push on from a place of Victory—through Jesus Christ.

The battles we face, we do not face alone.

Our Lord promises “…never to leave us nor forsake us.”—Deuteronomy 31:6.

We are called to fight the good fight and run our race in the power of the Greatest, most victorious Warrior ever, Jesus! God’s plans for us through these battles, their purpose often, is to strengthen us and our faith.

Last year, I stepped out in faith and bought my first truck. As a truck driver, I wanted to be more independent and create greater financial freedom for my family. But my business has experienced more valleys than mountain tops over the past year. It has been quite a fight and a long, gruelling race. Yet the Lord has been my Rock, the One holding it together. My faith has been shaken and tested at times. And many times, I’ve wondered if I would make it. If I could keep fighting? If I can continue the race?

In James 1:2-4 He writes, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, and sisters. Whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Through these trials and my various fights, I realized the Lord was doing a work in me.

God is stretching me and strengthening my resolve to keep the faith. To become more mature and complete, to serve Him better. So, today, I can testify because of my own perseverance, encouraging you to keep fighting and running your race. To tell you God is with you, He is for you, and He is doing mighty work in you in every season of your life.

My friends, be thankful on the mountain and in the valley. To God be the glory, Amen!

If you are reading this and have not given your life to Christ, beginning a genuine relationship with Him, then do it today while there is time. In Revelation 3:20, God’s Word says: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” God will never force His way into your heart. So, will you open the door and welcome Him in today? If so, pray this simple but Life-changing prayer with me: Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart and change me from the inside out. I repent of my sins; make me into who You created me to be. I believe You are the Son of God, who died for me and rose again in victory, defeating death. Have Your way, Lord, in Jesus name. Amen.

Be Loosed!

“Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.” Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.” –John 11: 38-44.

I intended this week’s teaching to come out of the first chapter of Colossians and be titled “Doing your part.” But as you can see, that is not the case. Holy Spirit always has the final say here. When I picked up my Bible and read the account of Jesus’s resurrection of Lazarus within the margin, I read a long-ago notation I’d noted. It reads: “Jesus will handle the resurrection. You do your part.”

I don’t believe in coincidences. The fact was not lost on me that the exact words I’d intended to use to title this teaching were now staring back at me.

God was trying to get my attention. And He had it now.

“Doing your part” has been an ongoing theme of late. So It made me wonder if you’re also not hearing some rendition of these exact words in your Spirit.

I ask because my experience has been that the Word I receive from the Lord is first meant to minister to me, then flow outward to you. And so I pray that we submit our will, our wants, what may appear ‘right’—sound, to us, to the will and calling of Jesus—putting to death all internal chatter that clamors for answers to the why’s. Allowing God’s Word to mirror our true reflection back to us.

In so doing, may the exhale of our breath genuinely be, “Thy will be done.” Whether we understand God’s will—or not.

As I read today’s Scripture, several points stood out:

First was the opening sentence. It informs us that Jesus was deeply moved—but why? What had touched Him so that Scripture lets us know straightaway that Jesus was moved? I believe in answering this properly; we must go back a bit.

At the beginning of this same chapter, Jesus informs His disciples that Lazarus has died.

Yet, at first, His disciples don’t understand that Lazarus is physically dead because Jesus says Lazarus has fallen asleep.’ Naturally, their minds think of ordinary sleep–rest. This oxymoron is one of many instances found in Scripture. Knowing their confusion, Jesus spells it out for them. He emphatically states that Lazarus is dead. He tells them it’s good that He wasn’t there to intervene.

Jesus was about to perform a miracle in the lives of so many through this one act of obedience.

Yet Jesus commiserated with Mary and Martha’s friends and neighbors’ pain and outpouring of grief. Was this partly because, acting out of obedience to the Father, Jesus had to stay put and not go to Lazarus? Is this why in part, Jesus was so deeply moved? Because He could not intervene, not touch, and heal His friend as He had so many others? Jesus trusted His Father surely. And although Jesus is fully God, He was also fully human and felt the genuine pain we experience in such moments. “For we do not have a Great High Priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses…” –Hebrews 4:14.

Yet all of this—His pain and theirs, did not stop Jesus from obeying the Father’s will.

There was a greater good that was about to come of this. Jesus knew obedience to the will of the Father was more important than His or their feelings—obedience is always paramount. “If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.” –John 15:10.

The second point that struck me was the barrier blocking Jesus’ entrance into the place He was sent to bring about the miracle He’d been sent to perform. Remember, Jesus tells us: “I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.” –John 5:30.

Scripture points out Jesus’s saying, “Take away the stone.” Why?

Could it be that in addition to its natural use, attention is brought to this stone to illustrate that we place proverbial stones across our hearts, denying God unfettered access? Denying Jesus access to give us the same healing and restoration of life and life to the full that we see Him give Lazarus?

Friends, if we belong to Jesus, we have been chosen to partner with God. Our part—my part, your part—is to choose to listen to Jesus’ voice and allow whatever stone impeding His entrance into our dead places to be rolled away—so that fullness of life might come forth.

Jesus tells those present to roll the stone out of His way. (notice the stone can be moved!)

Martha’s response? To tell Jesus no—don’t do that. What are you thinking? He’s been dead for days, and it stinks in there!

Sounds reasonable, right? After all, isn’t that what we do when we hide ‘our flesh’ in places we think no one can see? When we choose to keep our tomb, those—shameful or painful—even prideful parts of ourselves sealed off—safe from view.

After all, Jesus couldn’t possibly love us if He sees all that, right?

Wrong!

Jesus knows that to have True Life; we must let Him into our stinking—rotten fleshly places. We must agree to have any stone moved away that might deny Him full access—to every yucky—stinking part of us! Why? Because the Truth is this: whatever Jesus does to us—in us, through us, is not just for us.

“Lazarus, come out!” And He did. And we will, too—all those called by His name must leave our dead things behind.

We, still wrapped in our grave clothes—still carrying the scent of things long since dead within us—are just waiting, as Lazarus was, to be released into the Fullness of Life. “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.” Jesus will always have the final Word.

Though salvation is a free gift from God, one based not on our good works that any of us might foolishly think we could earn such a gift, we do have a part to play in working out our salvation. Paul clarifies this in Phil.2:12. “So then, my beloved, even as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling.”

Plainly put: We must do our part, must agree—desire, want, our stone be rolled away.

Do you, friend? I pray you do. Won’t you ask Jesus to roll away everything blocking you from asking Him to come into your heart? To be your Lord and Savior, He’ll roll away anything standing between you and Him if you genuinely want it gone. Jesus says it this way: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” –Revelation 3:20

Who Will Save Me?

“And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.” –Romans 7:18; 24-25.

The Apostle Paul answers this pivotal question of how men are saved from their corrupt, weak flesh with unassailable clarity; only Jesus can save us from sin and its enticing, wicked grip on our flesh. “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” –John 14:6.

All the distress, bitterness, heartache, shame, and tragedy can be summed up in the three-letter word: Sin. Its meaning—to fall short of God’s standard and to do contrary to God’s Law—has an impact on every soul and overflows the boundaries of the human heart. –Reverand Billy Graham.

There is no other person, no amount of “good works” we can do, no amount of trying harder that can or will save us from our sinful nature. Only Jesus can save us.

The truth is, not even the most sin-stained of us have not strayed too far or committed any sin so atrocious or filthy that Jesus’ Blood, His great love, and mercy cannot redeem. Man cannot save himself; all paths do not lead to God—the only Source of eternal life. “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among people by which we must be saved [for God has provided the world no alternative for salvation].” –Acts 4:12.

“For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].” –Ephesians 2:8-9.

Yet because we are created in God’s image, man is capable, to some extent, of reflecting God’s goodness. Hence, many have gotten it twisted that their good works must be proof, evidence that they have a relationship with God—why else would they do such good?

Sure, even that one with the most hardened of hearts can do good, but simply acting “good” will never afford us the strength nor ability to overcome our sinful nature.

Apart from God, we don’t have it in us to choose life. “For the sinful nature has its desire which is opposed to the Spirit, and the (desire of the) Spirit opposes the sinful nature; for these two, (the sinful nature and the Spirit) are in direct opposition to each other (continually in conflict), so that you (as believers) do not (always) do whatever (good things) you want to do.” –Galatians 5:17.

Notice the clause The Apostle Paul has attached to this Truth. For the above Biblical Truth to apply to any man, he must first acknowledge that Jesus is Lord; God’s Holy Spirit must reside within Him. –” so that you (as believers) do not (always) do whatever (good things) you want to do.”

Once Jesus has been invited into a man’s heart to take His rightful place as Lord over every fiber of their being, every aspect and circumstance in which they might find themselves, only then, in total surrender to His will, not desperately clinging to their own, does man afford God’s Holy Spirit complete control of their heart, will and emotions. “The Spirit of truth will come and guide you in all truth. He will not speak His own words to you; He will speak what He hears, revealing to you the things to come and bringing glory to Me. The Spirit has unlimited access to Me, to all that I possess and know, just as everything the Father has is Mine. That is the reason I am confident He will care for My own and reveal the path to you.” –John 16:13.

The same Apostle Paul, who opens our eyes to the fact that nothing good lives in our flesh and how the answer to everything in life is Jesus, under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit, condensed the “how to” of this ability to walk in victory over our flesh into this one sentence: “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” – Galatians 5:16.

Yes, incredibly, all men have been afforded the unfathomable privilege to wholly give ourselves over to Holy Spirit’s control, placing the total weight of our trust in Him.

Conversely, like fellow believers Ananias and his wife, Saphira, we can choose to hold back some corner of ourselves from God—never a good idea! You can read all about them and the outcome of their choices in Acts 5: 1-11. This couple held back material possessions. But truth be told, it was their heart and trust in God they indeed held back.

Scripture makes clear that where a man’s treasure is, that’s where you’ll find his heart.

We must allow God’s Holy Spirit unfettered access to everything we call our own. Again, God has afforded us everything we have or will experience in our lifetimes. “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.” –James 1:17.

So, by hedging their proverbial bet, Ananias and Saphira demonstrated their trust in self-reliance, not God. And so do we the moment we choose to deny God’s Holy Spirit access to any corner of our lives; be it material; physical, emotional, or financial.

I’ll pause here to say: Don’t get it twisted. God is Sovereign, All-Powerful.

Jesus can do whatever He chooses with our lives, whenever He chooses. He is our Creator; we are His creations. God need never ask our permission to do anything He pleases. Yet He does choose to partner with us. And the byproduct of this partnership with God is victory, our ability to overcome anything.

Victory over our flesh, ever-shifting feelings, moods, wants, and desires; the ability to overcome any adversity, circumstance, sin or battle we may face. Victory over selfishness, fear, and anxiety. Over every emotion that does not align with God’s will and Word. Victory over addiction, pornography, gambling, lying, adultery, and stealing.

Victory that promises to bring restoration according to God’s will for our lives.

Restoration of broken relationships and marriages, dreams, hopes and desires you thought you’d missed—or missed out on. Yet above all these, placing the total weight of our faith in Jesus—your accepting Him as your personal Lord and Savior brings with it both instant and eternal restoration of your relationship with God. A relationship severed by sin in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve’s sin separated us all from our Perfect, Pure, and sinless Father. “When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.” –Romans 5:12;18.

Beloved of God, if you have sinned, or wandered away from the Lord, consider this your clarion call. Run home to your Father, just as your brother, the Prodigal son, once did. Your Father has been watching and waiting for your return. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” –Luke 15:20.

And be encouraged, dear friend, if you are weary and tired of trying to “get right” on your own steam—exhausted from carrying the weight of the world on your back day after day. Today, you can hand that heavy load to Jesus, and He will take it from you if you invite Him into your heart and life as Lord and Savior. “Because if you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and in your heart you have faith that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” –Romans 10:9.

Listen to Jesus’ own Words, His heart and promise towards His children, toward you, if you accept Him: “I will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will feel my presence in your time of trouble. I will deliver you and bring you honor.” –Psalm 91:15.

Are You A Crowd Pleaser?

“So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, set Barabbas free for them; and after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over [to his soldiers] to be crucified” –Mark 15:15.

You drown not by falling into a river, but by staying submerged in it. –Paul Coelho.

As I listened to another vessel sharing what God had laid on his heart, Holy Spirit grabbed hold the wheel when I read Mark 15:15. What you’ll read today is the result of where He led me. Thank you, Pastor Mike Padgett, for being the vessel Holy Spirit used to get my attention. I trust He’ll use the Word He’s pulled out of our bellies to accomplish His good purpose.

Now at Shechem, Joshua had assembled all the tribes of Israel, then, standing before them, he ran through the litany of how the Lord had delivered them. How God had blessed, provided for, and protected them. Then, Joshua presented the people with the inescapable choice God set before them. “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living.” –Joshua 24:14-15.

Those gathered before  Joshua had a choice to make. So do we.

We must choose between serving Jesus unashamedly, being so firmly planted in Christ that the fiercest winds of change may plummet us, but they’ll never uproot our faith in Him. Joshua made his choice. Pontus Pilot certainly made his. So did the high priests and their hastily assembled crowd who shouted, “Crucify Him!”

Give us Barabbas and put an end to this supposed king of the Jews!

A day is coming when no man will be allowed to play the “I didn’t know” card.

Scripture is clear: “When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. –Philippians 2:7-11.

Why wait until it’s too late, friend? Repent your sins and confess Jesus as Lord of your life today!

Now I understand how difficult that is to hear—and for some even to believe. But I love God and you too much not to obey Him and tell you the Truth—regardless.

For much of my adult life, I, too, wrestled with God—I knew of Him, that He was God. Still, I continued living life as usual despite that fact. I was a crowd pleaser—just like Pilot. But today, with a grateful heart surrendered to Jesus, I thank God, He pursued me until He won! God always wins, and I also thank Him for that. God’s plans for my life are so much bigger and better than mine could ever be.

But back to Pilot.

We’re focusing on him today because his choice, or lack thereof, is the mirror through which we might glimpse our own choice: choose Jesus or please the crowd. “So when Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but rather that a riot was breaking out, he took water and washed his hands [to ceremonially cleanse himself of guilt] in the presence of the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this [righteous] Man’s blood; see to that yourselves.” –Matthew 27:24.

God’s Word is clear: we can’t have it both ways. Our not choosing Jesus is, in fact, our choice. Just as it was for Pilot, no amount of hand washing will ever change this fact. “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon [money, possessions, fame, status, or whatever is valued more than the Lord].” –Matthew 6:24-26.

If left unguarded, friends, your ears will be accosted by the shouts of those clanging voices who would have you bow down to the gods of this world—as they did Pilot. He knew what these religious leaders and their motley mob were up to.

Scream loud enough to threaten a man’s livelihood, his position, pockets, or peace, and you might cause him to fall.

In Pilot’s case, this strategy worked. Pilot’s wife, even Jesus Himself, had told Pilot who it was that stood before him. His conscience bore witness to this man being different—and innocent.

So why did he cave? What made Pilot give in to the voices that bayed for Jesus’ Blood—denying His deity?

Likely for the same reason, many today cave and deny Jesus.

Most people don’t want to stand out—create a fuss, be ostracized, risk losing friends, family members or popularity—maybe even their jobs or business. They don’t want to be labeled a Jesus freak—one of those sold-out Bible believers. They’re afraid of going against the prevailing opinions of the world in which they live. Against a legion of voices telling them their children’s sex is not fixed, as God created it, but fluid.

A girl today, a boy tomorrow, and; if they don’t support these twisted lies, they are hateful, unsupportive, bigoted parents damaging their child’s self-esteem. These same voices will assail the ear of anyone who will listen. Falsely instructing them that a woman has the right to murder the unborn child in her womb—after all, it’s her body, they say, and that so-called child is nothing more than a blob of tissue. Don’t allow that to ruin the rest of your life.

Hear me, friend. These are lies from the pit of hell, bent on twisting and destroying what God Himself created. “So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.” –Genesis 1:27.

Some of these same twisted voices shouted for Lot to send out the Angels God had sent to carry out His judgement on Sodom and Gomorrah so they might have sex with them. There truly is nothing new under the sun. Satan has always tried to pervert God’s Word, causing man to question His Truth and laws. It started in the most perfect place on earth, Eden, and continues still. “Now the serpent was more crafty (subtle, skilled in deceit) than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And he serpent (Satan) said to the woman, “Can it really be that God has said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden, except the fruit from the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God said, ‘You shall not eat from it nor touch it, otherwise you will die.'” But the serpent said to the woman, “You certainly will not die!” –Genesis 3:1-4.

Governor Pilot fell sway of the legion of voices demanding He betray Jesus—go against what He knew to be little more than petty jealousy and manipulation—a power play, politics—not much different than today, is it?

So here’s my question to you, friend. “If Jesus were to stand before you as he did Pilot, whom would you choose? Jesus, or those who deny Him.”

I pray you choose Jesus. He loves you. God hates sin, all sin. Not just sin committed by the gay community or the woman who had the abortion. God hates adultery, lying, stealing, greed. He wants us all to love and choose Him, despite our sins. God can more than cleanse us of our sins if we choose Him.“But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Then the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake the Lord to serve other gods! It was the Lord our God himself who brought us and our parents up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled. And the Lord drove out before us all the nations, including the Amorites, who lived in the land. We too will serve the Lord, because he is our God.” –Joshua 24:15-18.

How To Respond to Adversity.

““There was a man in the country of Uz named Job. He was a man of complete integrity, who feared God and turned away from evil. Job was the greatest man among all the people of the east.” — Job 1:1,3b

Job, who takes up an entire book in the Old Testament, can teach us so much when it comes to maintaining steadfastness in the face of adversity. As I was reading his story, I couldn’t help but think of a question posed by so many: if God is so good and He is sovereign, why do bad things happen to good people?

I don’t know that I have the answer to that difficult question, but I know that I have gleaned some fundamental truths about the nature of who God is and what a healthy human response should be through Job’s wisdom.

Our first impressions about Job are that he was a man of remarkable character, who feared God, was successful, and was wealthy, all of which marked him as the greatest man of his day. If you read his story, you will not just learn that his world fell apart in one moment but also gain insight into what happens in the supernatural realm when devastation originates in the pits of hell.

Before we begin, you must understand that according to the infallible Word of God, Satan is real, there is indeed a heavenly realm, and Satan cannot operate outside of God’s all-knowing nature.

Truth: Satan roams the earth, searching for whom he may devour. The Lord asked Satan, “Where have you come from?” “From roaming through the earth,” Satan answered him, “and walking around on it.” — Job 1:7. “Be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.” —1 Peter 5:8.

Again, truth: God sets boundaries for what Satan can and cannot do. Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? No one else on earth is like him, a man of perfect integrity, who fears God and turns away from evil.” Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven’t you placed a hedge around him, his household, and everything he owns? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But stretch out your hand and strike everything he owns, and he will surely curse you to your face.” “Very well,” the Lord told Satan, “everything he owns is in your power. However, do not lay a hand on Job himself.” So Satan left the Lord’s presence. — Job 1:8-12.

God knew Job’s heart. He knew it was not in Job’s nature to curse Him. For whatever reason, God allowed Satan to take everything near and dear to Job, knowing that Job’s integrity was pure down to his core. He knew Job wouldn’t be swayed by circumstances, no matter how severe. I pray we can be a people whose nature is so pure that our natural response is that of Job.

As the story goes, Job lost his children, livestock, and servants in one day. One day was all it took for him to lose his beloved children and so much of what he worked for. But his response is remarkable: Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will leave this life. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Throughout all this Job did not sin or blame God for anything. — Job 1:21-22.

Job blessed the Lord during his deepest pain.

How often, when one thing doesn’t go our way, are we quick to fall apart and blame God? Imagine what would happen if our response to difficulties was blessing the Lord instead of glorifying the terrible works of our adversary, Satan. The attacks of hell are Satan’s glory. When we choose to focus on the attack rather than the goodness of God, we are choosing to shift our praise away from God in all His beautiful glory to Satan and all his terrible glory.

There is a difference between acknowledging that we are being afflicted and obsessing over the affliction.

For the nonbeliever, there is deliverance, once and for all, from the strongholds of hell: anger, bitterness, lust, addiction, anxiety, depression, malice, greed, and the like. But there is freedom once we begin to walk in who God created us to be and believe in Jesus Christ. Hardships still happen, but we can navigate them in the freedom of Christ. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. — John 8:36.

Too many people, believers, and nonbelievers alike, dwell on the affliction, surrendering to the lie that God is no longer good because their situation is bad.

Instead, I challenge you to humble your heart and declare that God is good even when life is not. An attack from Satan does not mean that God is not good or no longer with you. It simply means that Satan is still evil.

Don’t allow Satan to manipulate you into believing that your situation determines the character of God.

Instead of obsessing over the trial and magnifying the enemy’s works, I challenge you to train your heart and mind like Job’s, blessing the Lord amid your deepest trial and pain. “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:4-7.

Today, choose to magnify the Lord.

 Let His goodness and mercy be a mountain compared to the temporary trials that are as grains of sand. While your circumstances will change continuously, one constant in life is that God will never stop being good. Let us learn from Job how to respond to our adversity, whether in hardship or an attack from the enemy. Let our response be that of praise to God rather than addressing Satan. Job never once spoke to the enemy. He simply turned his gaze toward his God, who is far greater than the enemy (1 John 4:4) and allowed Him to fight his battles.

Yes, Job acknowledged his suffering but never cursed the Lord.

If you don’t yet know Jesus in such a way that His peace can supersede your current suffering, humbly ask Him into your heart that He may deliver you, grant you salvation and give you perfect peace.

Repent, The Kingdom Of God Is At Hand!

“Seek the Lord [search diligently for Him and regard Him as the foremost necessity of your life], All you humble of the land Who have practiced His ordinances and have kept His commandments; Seek righteousness, seek humility [regard them as vital]. Perhaps you will be hidden [and pardoned and rescued] In the day of the Lord’s anger.” –Zephaniah 2:3 AMP.

When my eyes hit verse 3 of Zephaniah, Chapter 2 this morning, I knew what I was being led to share this week. It’s definitely not a feel-good, popular message. It never has been. But it is needed. So thank God I care little about popularity…

Smack dab in the middle of foretelling of God’s impending judgement—Zephaniah reminds Israel that Love and mercy have always been the Father’s heart towards them—towards all His children. One of the most quoted and recognized Bible verses makes this Truth abundantly clear. “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.” –John 3:16 AMP.

As I read Zephaniah’s third verse, almost instantly, my mind went to the Words Jesus spoke in the beginning of His earthly ministry. “From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins, live your life in a way that proves repentance; seek God’s purpose for your life], for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” –Matthew 4:17 AMP. And these nearly verbatim Words echo back to John the Baptist, Jesus’s forerunner. Jesus and repentance are synonymous, after all. We can trace this foundational Truth all the back to Eden.

So if God has been tugging on your heart, beloved friend, it is likely for salvation. God is offering you a relationship with Himself. “Today [while there is still opportunity] if you hear His voice, Do not harden your heart, as when they provoked Me [in the rebellion in the desert at Meribah].” –Hebrews 3:15 AMP. If you will humble yourself, repent of your sins, and tell God you’re genuinely sorry for even the vilest sins you may have committed. Then by His Word, God is faithful to forgive, cleanse, and restore you to Himself. “If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises] and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose].” –1 John 1:9.

And to you, dear brother, beloved sister. Since you have tasted salvation freely given you, the goodness of God, I admonish you never to lose sight of your desire for your first Love. “But I have this [charge] against you, that you have left your first love [you have lost the depth of love that you first had for Me].” –Revelation 2:4 AMP. As I hope you would me, I encourage you to do whatever you must to ensure God remains first in every aspect of your life, and, if your love has grown cold, your flame of love flickering, stoke that fire right now!

Humble yourself before your Lord, repent, and run back to the feet of your Lord. Take to heart what God’s Word has to say about your salvation: “So then, my dear ones, just as you have always obeyed [my instructions with enthusiasm], not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation [that is, cultivate it, bring it to full effect, actively pursue spiritual maturity] with awe-inspired fear and trembling [using serious caution and critical self-evaluation to avoid anything that might offend God or discredit the name of Christ].” –Philippians 2:12 AMP.

The Holy Spirit had led Jesus into the wilderness to be tested. There, Jesus had fasted and prayed for forty days and forty nights. During that time, Satan came to Him on multiple occasions to do what He does best—kill, steal, destroy—and lie. But God always has a plan! Because through this same Jesus, the Father made possible the only Way for you and me to be restored to right relationship with Him. “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved.” –Acts 4:12.

This Truth, God’s intent to provide the Way back to Himself, has lived in the heart of our Father from the beginning—as we understand it.

How can I confidently state this without sounding as though I, His creation, would dare presume to know the mind of God, my Creator? Because of His Word, I trust the infallibility of God’s Word. In addition, I know my Father’s heart—experientially. I hear it beating loud and clear across every page of the Bible—God’s infallible, life-changing, Living heartbeat. “He humbled you and allowed you to be hungry and fed you with manna, [a substance] which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, so that He might make you understand [by personal experience] that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.” –Deuteronomy 8:3 AMP.

God’s fierce and resounding “I love you” is the very Lifeblood and Bread of the Bible’s every syllable.

And so, it is towards Jesus’ finished work, towards salvation—that Zephaniah is pointing us. Light and Hope amid great darkness and sin.

It’s toward the Cross, the foreshadowing of Jesus’ finished work, the shedding of His Blood, that sinless, blameless sacrifice first witnessed in Eden. Where God put to death innocent animals to cover Adam and Eve’s sinful, fallen nakedness—sin separates us from God—yet another point Zephaniah makes clear for those with ears to hear. “…Seek righteousness, seek humility [regard them as vital]. Perhaps you will be hidden [and pardoned and rescued] In the day of the Lord’s anger.” –Zephaniah 2:3.

Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Paul said it this way concerning those who have come to know the Lord: “How will we escape [the penalty] if we ignore such a great salvation [the gospel, the new covenant]? For it was spoken at first by the Lord, and it was confirmed to us and proved authentic by those who personally heard [Him speak].” –Hebrews 2:3.

In Christ Jesus, eternal Life and hope are offered in place of death and judgment.

Again, it is towards this Truth that Zephaniah points us. Most in Israel had abandoned God—His commandments and ways. Great apostasy had saturated the people’s hearts (the abandonment or renunciation of a religious or political belief—Oxford Dictionary) indeed, in part, that had much to do with their time in Babylon in exile. Zephaniah reminds Israel—and through them you and me, to humble ourselves before God, remembering to live by His Word—His commands, to seek His heart and to enthrone Him on ours—it is His rightful place, after all. And do not delay!

Zephaniah calls us to repent our sins before God’s righteous judgement begins and the window of God’s grace closes. Remember, Beloved, God will not tarry with man forever. “But understand this: If the head of the house had known what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.” –Matthew 24:43 AMP.

In these last days, I pray you’ll chase after Jesus with all that is in you, friends. “The Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you]; The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favor], And be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness]; The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval], And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life].’ –Numbers 6:24-26

Walk it Out On The Sea Of Doubt. Part 2.

As the title implies, doubt can be like a raging sea.

Thoughts can suddenly blow through our minds; waves of fear can crash and swell within them. And like all storms, our thoughts can be dark and foreboding, but God! Oh, hallelujah! Only God can calm those thoughts, those sudden, stormy waves, and winds. Only God can make the sea of our minds like glass, perfectly still. With just a Word from His mouth: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” – John 14:27

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen”. -Ephesians 3:20-21. 

That, my dear friends, what our God can do and does, it’s straight from the Word.

No man can make up the workings of God. The Spirit testifies in each of us that God is who He says He is. Jesus came to give life and make it more abundant. Jesus came to give us peace, His peace. We need to cling to and pray for His peace daily—this “peace that surpasses all understanding.” The world does not understand this peace because it cannot. The kind of peace the world offers is a failed promise of peace, inconsistent, temporary. Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

In order to be conformed to something, you must be connected to, faithful, to whatever or whomever you are placing your faith in. If we put our faith in the world, we will reap what the world offers, the fruits of the flesh. You’ll draw your nourishment from the world if it is your source, your vine. And you’ll get its byproduct, an exact replica of what you’ve been drawing from. The world can only produce its own kind.

Instead of what this world has to offer, Jesus wants to be the Vine you draw from daily. He wants to be your Source.

His gift of salvation, His Spirit, will produce lasting fruit that will sustain you in times of trouble. When those waves of doubt crash into you, you can find the strength in Jesus, you never thought you had. The Helper, God’s Holy Spirit, can and desires to dwell within you. My pastor always says, “Transformation starts from the inside, then makes its way outward.” A person our Lord saves will be transformed from the inside, and all the world will see the fruit of their salvation. 

Do you believe that today?                                                                       

Do you believe that God can bring peace to your mind, healing to your body, and above all, salvation to those who cry out for the forgiveness of their sins?

Jesus can, and He will! He is coming back, friends, brothers, and sisters! It’s only a matter of time—I cling to this truth by faith, believing. Now there are moments, my dear friends, that I will have doubt wash over me. Does it make me a non-believer? Of course not! I am human, and there will be those moments when I fall short in faith. But God will prove Himself faithful when I am lacking. So, if my lack of faith is my thorn in the flesh, I will remember and cling to these words spoken to the apostle Paul:

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” –2 Corinthians 12:9.

A thorn in our flesh could be several things, whether it be fear, doubt, anxiety, depression, an actual sickness, as Scholars suggest it was with the Apostle Paul or a divorce; whatever it may be, a thorn in your side will make you feel weak, causing you to lose focus and fall. But in those moments especially, remember, hold tight to what Jesus said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for May strength is made perfect in weakness.”

 When you posture yourself in surrender to God, He will take over in whatever situation you may be going through. Submission is about our heart of worship and willingness to lay it all down at His feet; when you are tired, worship. When you cannot take another step, worship; when you have lost your job, worship, whatever the enemy is throwing at you, cast your ALL cares and worries on Jesus, and just worship the Lord!

Praise is one of the greatest weapons we have when we are facing trouble. God’s unmerited favor will get you through life’s storms and trials—God’s favor found in knowing His Son, Jesus, will see you through!

Child of God, you have the favor of the Father living inside you! What can this world do to you? Lift your eyes to heaven and know that God is for you.

He has not left you. The apostle Paul writes, “What shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” -Romans 8:31 

I genuinely feel that someone reading this is about to receive their breakthrough.

Doubt is not your portion, dear friend. The keys have been handed to you. Jesus has taken them back from the enemy and now holds all the authority. Move, in the authority you’ve been given, in Jesus’ name!

Friend, if you don’t know Him as Lord, Jesus is waiting for you to take that step and reach out by faith, grab hold of His gift of salvation by repenting your sins and asking Jesus to be Lord of your life. I pray that the Holy Spirit has spoken to you through His inspired teaching and that you will walk out what He’s asking you to do, my friend. Amen
